Choose the correct starting option. Creating a wallet generates new recovery credentials; importing restores credentials you already control. Neither action is the same as opening a custodial account.

Install only from a source you have checked. Review device permissions and choose an appropriate local unlock method. Your unlock password does not replace your recovery phrase.

Finish with a safety check
Write down recovery details offline before receiving funds. Verify your account address and use a small test transfer when learning a new network.
